Vedran Ružić is a visual artist and an awarded musician from Croatia. He has published three original jazz albums following a unique approach – accompanying each of the albums with different forms of art (painting, art movie, contemporary dance and sculptures). After finishing the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, his main goal became combining music and painting. For the last few years, he held exhibitions in many galleries all over Croatia and in Europe, while some of the sculptures are set as permanent exhibits in Opatija, Croatia.

Currently he is a resident at Hauptstadtstudio in Friedrichshain of the Institut für Alles Mögliche. On Wednesday 22nd of January 2020 from 6pm to 9pm the doors of the studio were open and Vedran presented his work with the emphasis on the acrylic on canvas paintings created in Berlin. Title of the exhibition is “Hourglass” and the paintings represent the “feeling” of Berlin as Vedran sees it and hears it. The multiculturality and the troubled history of Berlin were a true inspiration for creating the series of paintings that lead us from stifling air of the underground tunnels to the winter sounds of Friedrichshain.
